Most people think they need to be sitting in a cathedral or a quiet prayer room to hear from the Almighty. They believe the Holy Spirit only visits the polished and the prepared. But the history of the Kingdom of God tells a different story.
God often speaks the loudest in the middle of the mess. He goes into the darkest rooms, the most broken homes, and even the most isolated jail cells to find the people the world has written off. He does this because His voice doesn't just give information. His voice creates a new reality.
When Daniel Skelton was sitting behind bars after years of drug dealing and street violence, he wasn't looking for a ministry. He was looking at the wreckage of a life built on trauma and addiction. But God doesn't see a convict. He sees a carrier of His glory.
The Voice That Shatters Shackles

The enemy wants you to believe that your past disqualifies you from a supernatural future. He wants you to think that the Blood of Jesus covers your sins but leaves your potential dead in the water. That is a lie from the pit of hell. Your history of brokenness is actually the raw material God uses to build a platform for His power.
The Baptism of Power
A changed life is the foundation, but a supernatural life requires an infusion of power. For many believers, faith is a set of intellectual beliefs or moral codes. They believe the Bible is true, but they live as if the Holy Spirit retired after the Book of Acts.
Daniel’s journey shifted when he encountered the charismatic reality of the Kingdom. He went from a skeptic to a man possessed by a holy hunger. Everything changed when he received the baptism of the Holy Spirit. This wasn't a religious ritual. It was a spiritual activation that unlocked prophecy and tongues.
The gifts of the Spirit are not badges of honor for the elite. They are tools for the harvest. You cannot take back culture for the Kingdom using only human logic and natural talent. You need the "demonstration of Spirit and power" that Paul talked about.
1 Corinthians 2:4 "And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power." If you want to see the world change, you have to be willing to look foolish to the world. You have to step into the supernatural realm where miracles are the currency of the Kingdom.
Walking in Authority
Healing is not a suggestion; it is a legal right purchased by Jesus on the cross. Once Daniel understood his identity as a son of God, the miraculous became his new normal. He didn't just pray for people in church. He took the power of God into hospitals, nursing homes, and onto the streets.
He saw legs grow. He saw patients wake up from comas in the ICU. He saw the sick healed in Walmart and among bike gangs. This didn't happen because Daniel is special. It happened because he believed that the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead actually lived inside of him.
Authority is not something you feel; it is something you exercise. Most Christians wait for a "feeling" before they step out in faith. But spiritual authority works through obedience, not emotion. You lay hands on the sick because the Word says to do it, and the Spirit backs up the Word.
Mark 16:18 "They will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover." Notice it doesn't say "they might recover if you're a pastor." It says they will. This is the standard for every person who follows Jesus.
The Cost of the Supernatural
Operating in the prophetic and the miraculous requires a commitment to maturity and humility. It is easy to get prideful when God starts using you to perform signs and wonders. But the moment you make the ministry about your "gift" instead of His heart, you lose your way.
Daniel learned that he had to navigate the unseen realm with grace. He had to learn how to judge prophecy and handle mistakes without falling into offense or deception. Prophetic maturity means owning your errors and seeking growth more than you seek a platform.
The goal of every miracle and every prophetic word is to reveal the heart of the Father for the broken. It’s about the sex trafficking victim being rescued. It’s about the homeless person feeling seen by their Creator. It’s about the addict realizing that the same God who spoke to a man in a jail cell wants to speak to them too.
You were not called to live a safe, quiet, religious life. You were called to be a portal for heaven on earth. You were called to carry the fire of the Holy Spirit into the darkest corners of culture and watch the shadows flee.
Stop waiting for permission to be powerful.
