The return of Jesus Christ is not a scary story designed to frighten children, but a glorious reality designed to purify the Church.
Too many believers look at the end times through a lens of escapism or sensationalism. We focus on dates, charts, and predictions that eventually fail. But the biblical Mandate for the last days is simple. We are called to be ready.
Readiness is not a feeling. It is a spiritual state of being. It requires an active engagement with the Holy Spirit that transcends normal religious activity. If your expectation of His return doesn't change how you live today, you aren't actually expecting Him.
The Danger of False Predictions
For decades, many leaders avoided the topic of the return of Christ because of the circus surrounding it. People made false predictions that led to disillusionment. When dates come and go without fulfillment, the hearts of the people grow cold.
But we cannot let the misuse of truth stop us from teaching the truth itself. The enemy loves to use hype to hide the actual urgency of the hour. 2 Peter 3:3-4 "knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts, and saying, 'Where is the promise of His coming?'"
When we stop talking about His return, we lose our eternal perspective. We start building kingdoms on earth that were never meant to last. We focus on comfort instead of commission. We must recover a holy sobriety regarding the Day of the Lord.
Expectation Produces Holiness
There is a direct connection between your level of expectation and your level of consecration. If you believe the King could walk through the door at any moment, you will live differently. You will speak differently. You will steward your time with a sense of divine weight.
John the Apostle made this clear in his first epistle. 1 John 3:3 "And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure." Hope is not a passive wish. It is a purifying fire.
If you find yourself struggling with persistent sin or spiritual lethargy, check your gaze. You have orobably fixed your eyes on the temporal world. When you fix your eyes on the returning King, the allure of the world begins to fade. Holiness is the natural byproduct of a heart that is truly waiting.
The Oil and the Lamp
The Parable of the Ten Virgins serves as a sobering wake-up call for the modern Church. All ten virgins were invited. All ten had lamps. All ten fell asleep. The only difference between the wise and the foolish was the extra oil.
In Scripture, oil often represents the Holy Spirit and the inner life of the believer. It is the secret place. It is the history you have with God when no one else is watching. You cannot borrow someone else’s oil when the midnight cry goes out.
The foolish virgins had enough oil for a moment, but not enough for the delay. We are living in the delay. This is why you must cultivate a private life of prayer and intimacy now. Your public ministry or religious Reputation will not sustain you in the days ahead.
The Bride’s Garment
The Bride of Christ does not just show up. She prepares herself. This preparation is described in the book of Revelation as the putting on of fine linen. Heaven defines this linen in a very specific way.
Revelation 19:8 "And to her it was granted to be arrayed in fine linen, clean and bright, for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints." This means your "garment" for the wedding feast is woven together by your obedience on earth. Every time you obey the Holy Spirit, you are treading the loom.
Righteousness is both a gift and a responsibility. We are justified by faith, but we are also called to walk in the works God prepared for us. A lukewarm Christianity that ignores the commands of Jesus is a Christianity that arrives at the wedding unprepared.

The Elijah Anointing and Repentance
Before the first coming of Christ, John the Baptist arrived in the spirit and power of Elijah to prepare the way. He didn't preach a message of felt-needs or self-improvement. He preached repentance. He turned the hearts of the fathers to the children.
The same spirit is moving in the earth today. God is raising up voices that refuse to compromise with the culture of the day. This Elijah anointing is meant to shake the Church out of its Laodicean slumber and back into a place of burning first love.
Repentance is not a one-time event we look back on decades ago. It is a lifestyle of alignment. It is the act of constantly turning our faces back toward the Light so that no shadow can find a home in us. If we want to stand in the day of His appearing, we must learn to kneel today.
Living prepared means living with a heart that says, "Even so, come, Lord Jesus." It means our lives are so intertwined with His will that His return is not an interruption to our plans. It is the fulfillment of them.
Pursue the oil of His presence with everything you have.
