Your prayer life is not a lottery system.
Most believers treat prayer like they are throwing a coin into a cosmic wishing well and hoping for the best. That is not how the Kingdom of God operates. You were never meant to just toss words toward the ceiling. You were created to exercise spiritual authority on the earth.
If your prayers feel like they are hitting a brass wall, the problem usually isn't God’s willingness to answer. The problem is a lack of strategy. You are in a real war with a real enemy who wants to intercept the manifestation of God’s will in your life.
That is why you must understand the mechanism of spiritual authority. God doesn't just want you to talk to Him. He wants you to govern with Him.
Understanding the Delay
Warfare happens in the second heaven. We see this mechanical reality clearly in the life of Daniel. He prayed for twenty-one days without an answer, but the delay wasn't because God was ignoring him.
Daniel 10:12 "Do not fear, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart to understand, and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard; and I have come because of your words."
The angel was dispatched the moment Daniel spoke. But he was resisted by the prince of the kingdom of Persia. This is a territorial spirit. There are demonic forces tasked with blocking your breakthrough before it can reach the physical realm.
If you don't know this, you will quit praying too soon. You will assume God said no when the reality is that the atmosphere is currently being contested. You have to learn how to push through the resistance until the answer arrives.
Degree 1: Asking and Declaring
The first step of authority is making your request known to God. This sounds basic, but many people vent their frustrations instead of actually asking for a solution. God invites us to come boldly to His throne of grace.
Asking is the foundation of intimacy. It acknowledges that He is the Source. But once you have asked, you must move into declaring. Declaring is simply speaking what God has already said in His Word.
When you declare, you are coming into agreement with the highest legal document in the universe. If God says you are the head and not the tail, then you say you are the head and not the tail. You are anchoring your soul to the truth of Scripture regardless of what your circumstances look like.
This shifts your posture from a victim to a participant. You are no longer wondering what God thinks about your situation. You are echoing His voice into the darkness.
Degree 2: Decreeing and Commanding
There is a major difference between asking God to do something and decreeing that it be done. A decree is a legislative act. It is an official order issued by a legal authority.
Job 22:28 "You will also declare a thing, and it will be established for you; so light will shine on your ways."
When you decree, you are speaking to the situation on behalf of the King. This leads directly into the fourth degree, which is commanding. Jesus didn't ask the Father to heal the withered hand. He commanded the person to stretch it out.
He didn't ask the Father to calm the storm. He commanded the wind and the waves to be still. You have been given the name of Jesus, which is the highest legal power of attorney.
You must learn to speak to the mountain. You stop talking to God about your problem and you start talking to your problem about your God. You command the spirit of infirmity to leave or the spirit of lack to break.

Degree 3: The Power of Thanksgiving
The highest form of spiritual warfare is thanksgiving. Most people thank God after they see the result. Warriors thank God while the battle is still raging.
Thanksgiving is the ultimate sign of faith. It proves that you believe the work is already finished in the spirit realm before it shows up in the natural realm. It creates a frequency of praise that the enemy cannot tolerate.
Philippians 4:6 "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God."
Notice that thanksgiving is required for the peace of God to guard your heart. It seals the prayer. It shuts the mouth of the accuser who wants to tell you that God has forgotten you.
When you combine these degrees of prayer, you become a dangerous force in the Kingdom. You aren't just begging for crumbs anymore. You are enforcing the victory of the cross upon the earth.
