What Nobody Is Saying About Iran Spiritually

Physical borders are not the primary battlefront of this war.
Geopolitics is just the shadow cast by the spiritual realm. When the US and Israel struck Iran, the world saw missiles and heard explosions. But in the spirit, a massive shift occurred that triggered a chain reaction across the globe.
Violence is leaking into our streets because the principalities governing these regions are in a state of desperation. Within twenty-four hours of those strikes, we saw terror attacks hit Austin and DC. A girls' school in Minab was bombed.
This is not a series of unfortunate coincidences. It is the visible manifestation of a spiritual power struggle. If you only look at the news through a political lens, you will miss the assignment God has for you in this hour.
The Prince of Persia is Moving
The animosity coming out of Iran is older than the current regime and deeper than modern diplomacy. We are dealing with the same spirit mentioned in the book of Daniel. This is a territorial stronghold that seeks to block the advancement of God's purposes in the earth.
Daniel 10:12-13 "Then he said to me, 'Do not fear, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart to understand, and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard; and I have come because of your words. But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me twenty-one days; and behold, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, for I had been left there with the kings of Persia.'"
This spirit is a legalistic, oppressive force that hates freedom and fears the Gospel. It works through intimidation and blood sacrifice. When its earthly seat of power is threatened, it lashes out through every available vessel.
That is why we see sleeper cells waking up on American soil right now. The principalities are calling in their chips. They are using human agents to create a climate of fear because fear is the atmosphere where demonic authority thrives.
The Counter-Intuitive Celebration
While the media focuses on the destruction, something incredible is happening inside Iran. Iranians are celebrating in the streets. This might seem confusing to those who think every Iranian loves their government.
The truth is that the people of Iran have been held hostage by a religious spirit for decades. They are tired of the oppression. They are tired of the bloodshed. They are ready for a different Kingdom.
The Church must realize that God uses the shaking of nations to break the grip of tyrants. When the structures of man fall, it creates an opening for the Spirit of God to rush in. This is exactly what we are seeing in the underground church in Iran.
Despite the death tolls and the heavy hand of the state, the Gospel is spreading faster there than anywhere else in the world. Acts 12:24 "But the word of God grew and multiplied." This happened right after a king tried to crush the believers, and it is happening again today.
The Duty of the Citizen-Believer
We have a dual responsibility in this season. We must understand the role of the sword and the role of the Spirit. The government has a specific mandate to protect its people from those who do evil.
Romans 13:4 "For he is God’s minister to you for good. But if you do evil, be afraid; for he does not bear the sword in vain; for he is God’s minister, an avenger to execute wrath on him who practices evil."
Physical security matters. Vigilance matters. Expecting our leaders to defend the innocent against terror is biblical.
However, the sword of the state cannot heal the heart of a nation. It cannot cast out a principality. That is our job. If the Church only argues about foreign policy and forgets to engage in high-level intercession, we have abandoned our post.

The battle is not against flesh and blood. That is the fundamental truth we have to internalize if we are going to survive the coming months. We cannot fight spiritual problems with only physical solutions.
Ephesians 6:12 "For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places."
You need to be sober-minded about the reality of sleeper cells and the threat of radicalization. But you cannot live in a spirit of fear. Fear is a choice to believe that the enemy has more power over your future than God does.
Every time a headline tries to grip your heart with panic, let it be a trigger for prayer. Pray for the believers in Iran who are standing at the epicenter of the fire. Pray for the protection of our cities against the schemes of the enemy.
God is not surprised by the escalation of conflict in the Middle East. He is the Lord of Hosts. He is the Commander of the armies of heaven, and He is moved by the prayers of His people.
The shaking has started, but the Kingdom of God cannot be shaken. We must align our values, our homes, and our prayers with the King who has already won the war.
Victory belongs to the Lord.
